Kia Carens Production Starts In India; Launch In February 2022

Kia has rolled out the first customer car of the three-row Kia Carens from its manufacturing facility in Anantpura, Andhra Pradesh. The new 7-seater MPV will be launched in the Indian market in February 2022. The company calls the new Carens a “Recreational Vehicle”, as it is claimed to offer a combination of MPV’s space and the sportiness of an SUV. The Kia Carens will be manufactured in India and will be exported to over 80 countries. Kia had opened the bookings for the Carens MPV on 14th January, and it registered 7,738 orders within the first 24 hours. Interested buyers can book the MPV online or via authorized Kia dealerships by paying an initial amount of Rs 25,000.

Kia Carens Production Starts

The Kia Carens MPV will come in 5 trim levels – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. It will be offered with 3 engine options – a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. This is the same engine line-up that is offered with the Seltos as well as Hyundai Creta.

The 1.5L NA petrol engine produces 113bhp and 144Nm of torque, while the turbo-diesel unit is good for 113bhp and 250Nm. The turbo unit churns out 138bhp and 250Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. Other transmission options include a 7-speed DCT with 1.4L turbo petrol and a 6-speed torque convertor with 1.5L diesel.

The Kia Carens will be offered in 8 colour options – Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Gravity Grey & Aurora Black Pearl. The Premium variant is offered with dual-tone Black & Beige interiors with Indigo Accents. The Prestige & Prestige Plus trims gets Black & Beige interior, while the Luxury Plus and Luxury trims are offered in two tone Triton Navy & Beige Interiors.
