New Mahindra Scorpio To Get Sequential Turn Indicators; More Details

After introducing the new gen Thar and the XUV700, Mahindra is now ready to launch the new generation Scorpio in the country before the end of this year – around Diwali. The new Mahindra Scorpio has been spotted numerous times, and every spy shot brings in new information. A camouflaged prototype of the SUV was caught testing recently, which reveals a new detail – sequential turn indicators.

The spy video reveals that the new Mahindra Scorpio will get progressive-type turn indicators. These sequential turn indicators are integrated into the twin-pod headlamp clusters. The sequential turn indicators are offered in several cars on sale; however, this feature was popularized by Audio. The video doesn’t reveal the rear profile, and it is early to suggest that the similar setup will be offered at the rear.

Previous reports claim that the new Mahindra Scorpio will be lighter, safer and feature-loaded. It is expected to be around 100kg to 150kg lighter than the current Scorpio. Moreover, it will share the steering wheel with the XUV700; however, it will continue to be hydraulic assisted.

The new Scorpio is likely to get 3D Sony audio system with 8-speakers. It is reported that the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio  will be safer and stronger than the outgoing model. It is likely to achieve 4 star crash test rating. The new model will be based on the ladder-on-frame chassis, which also underpins the new Thar.

The new Mahindra Scorpio is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel. The diesel engine is likely to be offered with two states of tunes – 130bhp/300Nm & close to 155bhp/360Nm. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. It will also source the 4×4 drive system from the new Thar.
