Maruti Suzuki introduced the second-generation Celerio with a new engine, upmarket interior and updated styling in November 2021. Now, the Indo-Japanese automaker is planning to add CNG variants to the hatchback model lineup in the last weeks of January 2022. However, its official launch date is yet to be announced. The 2022 Maruti Celerio CNG will come with the 1.0L, 3-cylinder Dualjet petrol engine coupled with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Transmission duties will be done by a 5-speed manual gearbox. Compared to the regular model, the 2022 Maruti Celerio CNG version will more fuel efficient. It’s expected to offer over 30kmkg, while reducing carbon emissions. Just so you know, the new Maruti Celerio is currently the most fuel economical car in the country. It’s claimed to deliver a mileage of 26.68kmpl (VXi AMT variant). The hatchback has been powered by a new Dualjet petrol engine that has two fuel injectors per cylinder, higher compression ratio, higher thermal efficiency, engine automatic stop start system and cooled exhaust gas recirculation system.
No other changes will be made to the 2022 Maruti Celerio CNG variants. The higher trims of the hatchback offer features such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, driver seat height adjust, keyless entry and go, fog lamps, power folding wing mirrors and 15-inch alloy wheels. Its standard feature kit includes front seatbelt pre-tensioners, rear parking sensors, dual airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system), idle engine start/stop, power steering, 12V power outlet, AC unit, seat belt reminders and more.
Compared to its predecessor, the new-generation Celerio is bigger measuring 3,695mm in length, 1,655mm in width and 1,555mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,435mm. While its length and height are similar to the old model, the new one is 55mm wider and has 10mm longer wheelbase. The new Celerio comes with a ground clearance of 170mm, which is 5mm higher than before.
