Maruti Suzuki is ready to give a generation change to its select popular models, namely, Vitara Brezza and Alto. While the second generation Brezza will arrive early next year, the all-new Alto is expected to hit showrooms during 2022 Diwali season. Both models are currently under their testing phase and caught on camera multiple times. Talking about the 2022 Maruti Alto, the hatchback will receive comprehensive design changes, feature upgrades and Dualjet engine. In fact, the new Alto will ditch its existing platform for the lightweight Heartect architecture.

While the new Maruti Alto 2022 will retain the original silhouette, it will witness significant dimensional changes. The new model will be longer, wider and taller than the current generation. Most of the cosmetic changes will be made at the front end. It will feature newly-designed, bigger sweptback headlamps with LED DRLs (could be for higher trims only), new pronounced mesh grille, sculpted hood and C-shaped fog lamp assembly. Its side profile is likely to remain unchanged. The rear section could be revised with bigger and more squarish taillamps, tweaked bumper and a flatter tailgate.

Significant updates will be made inside the cabin as well. Features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, a semi digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, power steering and dual airbags could be exclusively offered on the higher trims. The new 2022 Maruti Alto might also be offered with new upholstery and automatic AC unit.

As mentioned above, the new Alto is expected to come with the new K10C Dualjet 1.0L, three-cylinder petrol engine with idle start/stop system. The same powertrain does duty in the new-generation Celerio. The motor pushes out a peak power of 67bhp and 89Nm of torque. The new Maruti Alto 2022 will also continue to be offered with the 796cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that’s good enough for 47bhp and 69Nm. Both manual and AMT gearboxes will be on offer.
