2022 Maruti Baleno Production Begins; Launch In February

We reported earlier that Maruti Suzuki will launch the heavily updated Baleno premium hatchback in February 2022. The company has now started series production for the new 2022 Maruti Baleno at its Gujarat based plant. In fact, the first unit of the hatchback was rolled out on January 24, 2022.

The 2022 Maruti Baleno clear pictures have already been leaked on the Internet. To be sold via the Maruti’s NEXA dealership range, the new Baleno will come with significantly revised front design. In fact, the hatchback’s body panels have been re-designed and the new model looks wider and bolder than the current car.

The 2022 Maruti Baleno gets a new larger grille, flanked by L-shaped wraparound headlamps. The headlamp unit will have LED DRLs (daytime running lights) and projector set-up. The bonnet design has also been altered. The side profile looks identical to the outgoing model; however, MSIL engineers have revised the front and rear fenders for the new front fascia and tail-lights. The rear profile of the hatchback gets new tailgate and newly styled L-shaped tail-lights. It also has new front and rear bumpers.

Previous spy images reveal that the 2022 Maruti Baleno will have all-new interior with a completely re-designed dashboard and colour scheme. The interior design is inspired by the global new S-Cross crossover. There is a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system dominating the central console, while the AC vents are now placed horizontally.

The vehicle will have a larger touchscreen unit (approx 8-inch) instead of the current 7-inch unit. It will be compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Previous reports suggest that the new Baleno could get Heads-Up Display or HUD. The new touchscreen infotainment system will have different versions, and some could come with connected car technology. The company is also working on multiple connected features for the Indian consumers.

The top-spec variants are likely to offer up to six airbags and ESP (Electronic Stability Program). The new model will retain the existing engine options – a 83bhp, 1.2L NA petrol and a 90bhp, 1.2L dualjet with 12V mild hybrid system. It was reported that the new model could get a Swift-like single clutch automatic or AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).
