The long-awaited 2022 Maruti Baleno is all set to go on sale in the country before the end of this month. The company has officially started accepting pre-bookings for the new Baleno at a starting price of Rs 11,000. The new model can be booked online or at authorised NEXA dealerships.

2022 Maruti Baleno HUD teased

The 2022 Maruti Baleno facelift will be based on Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform, which is expected to be upgraded. MSIL is working on building a stronger and safer car. The company could make structural updates to achieve a better crash test rating in GNCAP (Global NCAP). Maruti Suzuki is reportedly to improve the steel quality used in the Baleno hatchback. The outer body panels and chassis will have thicker grade of steel. The new Baleno will come with 6 airbags and ESP (Electronic Stability Program).

The engine options are likely to remain the same. The new model will be offered with two petrol engines – a 1.2-litre VVT naturally-aspirated and a 1.2-litre Dualjet. While the former is good for 82bhp and 113Nm of torque, the Dualjet engine is capable of producing 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. Previous reports suggest that the existing CVT unit could be replaced by a new AMT.

2022 Maruti Baleno Bookings

The teaser confirms that the 2022 Maruti Baleno hatchback will receive Heads Up Display or HUD. This is not as customisable as the luxurious cars; however, it will show decent features to offer better safety. It will come with high-end features, which are missing in the current model.

The 2022 Maruti Baleno facelift will come with all-new interior, featuring a bigger touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment unit will be compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The hatchback will also receive a wireless charging system. It will also come with connected car technology, automatic air-conditioning, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, and new L-shaped tail-lights.
