2022 Maruti Alto New Gen Launch On August 18 – Report

The long-awaited 2022 Maruti Alto New Gen model is reportedly to be launched in the country on August 18, 2022. However, MSIL is yet to make an official statement on the same. The new model has recently been caught during official TV commercial shoot. It will be based on the new platform and will come with a new powertrain option.

The 2022 Maruti Alto is likely to be designed and developed on Maruti Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform that underpins the S-Presso, Celerio and the Wagon R. In fact, the slightly different version of this platform underpins bigger Maruti cars including the Ertiga and the XL6.

The spy images reveal that the new-gen Alto hatchback is taller and longer than the outgoing model, which should translate into more space inside the cabin. The new model will share styling cues from the Celerio hatchback, which is also evident from the recent spy images. It will have all-new front fascia, featuring a Celerio-inspired larger grille, a larger sweptback headlamps and new bumper. It will have taller rear profile with new tail-lights, bigger glass area, new bumper and flatter roofline.

The new Maruti Alto will come with all-new interiors, which is likely to share some similarities with the new Celerio. It is expected to receive all-new dashboard with a completely revised central console, a new touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a semi-digital instrument console, keyless entry, engine start/stop button and others.

The new Maruti Alto is likely to be offered with two engine options – the 796cc, 3-cylinder petrol and a 1.0L K10C dualjet. While the former is good for 47bhp and 69Nm of torque, the dualjet engine produces 67bhp and 89Nm. Both manual and AMT gearbox are likely to be on offer. The hatchback will also receive a CNG version in future.
