2022 Mahindra Scorpio To Get Two Diesel Variants – All Details

The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio (codename Z101) was recently teased via an official video hinting at its imminent debut. The popular SUV will witness significant design changes and feature upgrades along with a more powerful engine setup. While its official specifications are still under the wraps, the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is reported to come with the new 2.0L mStallion turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engine options.

Interestingly, the diesel motor could be offered in two states of tunes – 130bhp with 300Nm and 155bhp with 360Nm. The lower diesel variants will come with the 130bhp version, which will be borrowed from the Mahindra Thar. The more powerful 155bhp version with AWD will be reserved for the higher diesel trims. The new Scorpio can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Mahindra will offer 4X4 drivetrain system, terrain modes and drive modes on range-topping variants only.

Compared to the current generation, the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be lighter, safer and bigger. The SUV will switch to the new platform sourced from the Thar. Several new features will be added to the model lineup such as a large touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a Head-Up Display, sunroof, a 360 degree camera, a digital analogue instrument cluster, vehicle telematics, electrically adjustable front seats, flat bottom steering wheel, dual tone leather seats and more. With the generation change, the Mahindra Scorpio will receive the forward facing front seats. Buyers will have two seating configurations to choose from – 6-seats and 7-seats. Its 6-seater version will have captains seats for the middle row and 7-seater model will come with bench-type seat in the second row. Currently, the SUV is available with multiple seating layouts including 7-seats with captain seats, 7-seats with side facing seats, 8-seats front facing and 9-seats with side facing.
