Over 1.24 Lakh Tata Nexon Sold in FY2022 – Outnumbered Creta, Brezza

Tata Nexon has been generating volume for the home-grown automaker ever since its launch in 2017. The subcompact SUV received a mid-life update in 2020 featuring BS6-complaint engines and a few cosmetic and feature upgrades. The model has been high-in-demand and managed to outsold cars from a segment above including Hyundai Creta. In financial year 2022, Tata Nexon recorded total sales of 1,24,130 units accounting a massive growth of 95 percent.

Tata’s subcompact SUV outnumbered the Maruti Suzuki’s top-selling Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Creta that registered total sales of 1,13,751 units and 1,18,092 units respectively. While the Vitara Brezza is ready to enter into its second-generation next month, the Creta will receive a facelift in the second half of 2022. Tata Motors is reported to give a generation change to the Nexon in the next couple of years. The new-generation Tata Nexon will switch to the Alfa platform and witness comprehensive changes inside and out.

At present, the Tata Nexon model lineup comes in 40 variants priced between Rs 7.55 lakh – Rs 13.90 lakh. There are 29 automatic variants that cost from Rs 9.20 lakh to Rs 13.90 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom. The subcompact SUV can be had with either a 120bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol or 110bhp, 1.5L diesel engines and 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT gearbox options.

Recently, the automaker introduced the Tata Nexon EV Max in two variants XZ+ and XZ+ LUX priced between Rs 14.54 lakh – Rs 17.15 lakh. The model comes with a 40.5kWh battery pack and an electric motor delivering a combined power of 143bhp and 250Nm of torque. It’s claimed to offer a range of 437km on a full charge. It’s capable to achieve 0 to 100kmph in under 9 seconds. Tata has added several new features to the Nexon EV Max including selectable regeneration braking system, new Makarana beige interior, upgraded ZConnect 2.0 connected car tech, ventilated seats, wireless smartphone, EPS with iVBAC and many more.
