The next-generation Mahindra Scorpio, which is currently in its final testing phase, is likely to debut in the first half of 2022. While its official launch date and details are yet to be announced, the SUV is reported to hit roads by mid 2022. The new model is reported to be retailed alongside the current Scorpio. With the generation change, the SUV will take a big leap in terms of design, features and engine mechanism. Compared to the current generation, the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be bigger, lighter, safer and more feature loaded.
Based on the updated ladder frame chassis, the new Scorpio will come with dual-tone interior theme, dual-tone leather seats and forward facing third-row seats instead of the side-facing jump units. There will be a bigger touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Rumour has it that the automaker might equip a 360 degree camera, Head-Up Display (HUD) and a digital analogue instrument cluster.
Features such as a factory-fitted sunroof, a flat-bottom steering, roof-mounted speakers (similar to the new XUV700), electrically adjustable front seats, reverse camera, vehicle telematics, cruise control, multiple airbags and rear disc brakes will also be on offer. The SUV will come with the optional 4WD (four-wheel drive) system and off-road modes. Some of major styling updates will include twin-pod headlamps, LED DRLs, revised front and rear bumpers and new LED taillamps.
Under the hood, the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will employ the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines. The gasoline unit will be tuned for generating two power outputs – 130bhp for lower variants and 160bhp for higher variants. The diesel motor will be good for 155bhp. The SUV model lineup will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
