4 Features That Should Be Added To Tata Harrier Facelift

Tata Motors is preparing a wide range of new SUVs for the Indian market. Adding to it, the company is testing the updated Harrier and Safari models. The current Tata Harrier comes equipped with several comfort and convenience features. It misses out on some advanced features, which are available in most of its rivals.

ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System)

ADAS is slowly becoming a mainstream feature in the mid-sized SUV segment. After MG Astor, Hyundai is also planning to add ADAS in the Creta facelift for the Indian market. The XUV700 top-end variant also comes with this driver assistance system, while MG Hector will also receive this feature. The Tata Harrier facelift is likely to be equipped with ADAS. It will come with ADAS features such as blind spot monitoring, lane assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning and others.

Wireless Charging System

The Harrier misses out on this important and practical feature. However, this could change with the updated model. Not just wireless charging, we expect the Tata Harrier facelift to offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

360 Degree Camera

This is an another striking and important features that Tata Harrier misses. All its rivals including the MG Hector, Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Creta comes equipped with 360 degree camera. This feature gives a bird’s eye view of the car’s surroundings on the infotainment system. It becomes more important when one drives in busy roads and in tight parking spots.

Petrol Engine

The Harrier is currently available in a single 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which is sourced from Fiat Chrysler Automobile. The SUV misses out on several potential customers looking to buy petrol powered SUVs. It is expected that Tata Motors is working on a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. It is likely to be a larger 4-cylinder version of the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Nexon compact SUV.

This engine will first introduce in the Harrier and the Safari facelifts. It is expected to produce around 160bhp and close to 250Nm of torque.
