2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic – What Will Be On Offer?

Mahindra & Mahindra will announce prices of the third-generation Scorpio on 27th June 2022. Called the Mahindra Scorpio-N, the model will witness comprehensive changes inside, out and under the hood. The company will sell the current-generation Scorpio alongside the new-generation model. Interestingly, the existing model will get a few cosmetic and feature changes and will be named 2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic. Here’re key details of the upcoming Scorpio Classic we know so far.

– The SUV’s slightly updated model was recently caught on camera at the Mahindra Research Valley, Chengalpattu.

– While the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic will retain its platform, it will feature a newly-designed grille with thin chrome vertical slats on angled horizontal strips. The radiator grille will also be different from the current model.

– The spy image reveals that the Scorpio Classic might feature differently designed front bumper and side claddings.

– If reports are to be believed, the carmaker might delete some advanced features from the updated model lineup. The new Mahindra Scorpio Classic is likely to miss out on features such as connected car tech, intelligent 1-touch lane change and cruise control.

– Similar to the current model, the updated one will come with the 2.2L mHawk diesel engine making 119bhp with 280Nm and 137bhp with 319Nm respectively. Transmission choices will include the same 5-speed manual and 6-speed units.

– The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic is likely to be offered in 5 trims – S3 Plus, S5, S7, S9, S9 Plus and S11. Prices of the existing model falls within the range of Rs 13.54 lakh – Rs 18.62 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The updated version will surely be priced slightly more premium than current-generation model.

Mahindra will begin the new Scorpio-N mass production from early June. It will be positioned above the Thar and equivalent to the XUV700. Some of its features and components will be borrowed from the XUV700.
