The iconic Honda Civic sedan is ready to enter into its 11th generation in coming months. Ahead of its global debut, the clear pictures and details of the model have been leaked on the web. The 2022 Honda Civic model lineup will be spread across four trims – LX, Sport, EX and Touring – and available in 7 exterior paint schemes. The colour palette will include two new shades – Morning Mist and Meteorite Gray along with the regular Aegean Blue, Sonic Gray, Platinum White Pearl, Black Pearl and Lunar Silver.
Buyers will have two interior themes to choose from – Black and Gray – that will vary colour-wise. With the generation change, the Civic will lose four colours (Polished Metal, Molten Lava, Modern Steel and Cosmic Blue) and the EX-L trim. In terms of design and styling, the new Civic will witness comprehensive changes and most of them will be inspired by the new Accord.
Upfront, the sedan will carry a sleeker black grille, wider LED headlamps, wider central air intakes and newly-designed fog lamps. The blacked out door handles, pillars, side wing mirrors, and window linings along with a sloping roofline enhance its side profile. Similar to the exterior, the interior of the 2022 Honda Civic share some its features with the new Accord. There is a large floating touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Honda Connect. The sedan also gets an upgraded suite of Honda Sensing safety and driver assistance technologies.
In international markets, the new Honda Civic will be made available with the 1.5L VTEC turbo petrol and Honda i-MMD hybrid powertrain options. It will have an e-CVT gearbox for performing transmission duties. The sedan will come with the FWD (front-wheel-drive) system.
The 2022 Honda Civic will be first launched in the Chinese market, followed by Japan and the USA. One must note that it won’t come to India as the carmaker shut down its Noida based plant last year. The facility served as the assembling hub for the Civic sedan.
