The all-new Ford Bronco, the retro-style SUV from the American automaker, first broke cover in July 2021. Ever since its unveiling, its Raptor version was rumoured to be under development. And those rumours have proven true with the global debut of the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor. It’s the 4X4 SUV on steroids with some serious off-road capabilities, extra turbo power and rugged body-built.
Here’re key details of the new Bronco Raptor SUV.
Extra Turbo Power
Ford hasn’t yet revealed full specifications of the Bronco Raptor. Though, we know that the model derives power from a 3.0L, twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine that does duty in the Ford Explorer ST. The 6-cylinder motor is claimed to return a massive power of over 400bhp. The standard Bronco comes with a 2.3L, 4-cylinder and 2.7L V6 engine delivering power worth 270bhp and 310bhp respectively. The off-road SUV gets an 10-speed automatic gearbox.
Great Off-Road Capabilities
The new 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor has been equipped with upgraded 4WD (four-wheel drive) system. Its transfer case has a 3.06 4X4 LO ratio for up to 67.7:1 crawl ratio. Similar to the standard model, it features Ford’s Go Over All Terrain (GOAT) terrain management system with multiple modes including a new Baja drive mode. Its dual exhaust system has been benefited with active-valve technology.
Compared to the standard Bronco, its Raptor version has higher ground clearance (333mm instead of 210mm). In fact, the latter one is wider and taller. Its large 37-inch all-terrain tyres with super massive sidewalls provide protecting while off-roading. The new Bronco Raptor has upgraded Fox suspension setup with 13 and 14-inch of travel in the front and rear axles respectively. It also comes with the locking front and rear differentials and a disconnecting front anti-roll bar.
Rugged Design
Unlike the standard model, the new 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor misses out on doors and roof panels. It has a new steel bumper featuring a large steel front bash plate with tow hooks and four Rigid LED foglamps. In order to increase its ground clearance in front of the wheels, one can remove the end caps of the bumper. It comes in multiple colour options, namely, Hot Pepper Red Metallic, Velocity Blue Metallic, Eruption Green Metallic, Shadow Black, Iconic Silver Metallic, Area 51, Cactus Gray, Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat, Oxford White, plus Ford Performance-exclusive Code Orange.
Interior Features
Some of its key features include the vinyl seats, rubberized flooring, suede seats with leather-wrapped bolsters (optional), SYNC4 with 12.0-inch center touchscreen, a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system (optional) and adaptive cruise control (optional).
Booking, Launch Details
Official bookings for the new Ford Bronco Raptor will begin in March 2022. Its deliveries will start in summer 2022.
