Volkswagen India is ready to announce prices of the updated Tiguan SUV tomorrow (7th December 2021). Production of the new model is already underway at the company’s Aurangabad facility. The SUV is said to come with “a sharp design, enviable performance, safety and exciting new assistance features”. The new 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift, which has been designed on the brand’s globally renowned MQB platform, receives minor cosmetic changes and feature upgrades.
This time around, the SUV will be offered with turbo petrol engine only. Under the hood, the new Tiguan will employ 2.0L, 4-cylinder TSI engine that delivers a claimed power of 190bhhp and 320Nm of torque. The motor has been mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and 4MOTION technology. The same engine powers the Tiguan AllSpace SUV.
Upfront, the Tiguan facelift carries a new wider grille, newly-designed LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and adaptive control, tweaked bumper and silver skid plates. One of the major interior updated will come in the form of the new Vienna leather upholstery. The old rotary knobs and buttons for the climate control system will be replaced with a touchscreen interface. The SUV will offer an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It will also get a digital instrument cluster, electrically adjustable driver seat with memory function, a panoramic sunroof, three zone climate control, ambient lighting with 30 shades, an illuminated gear stalk, a leather-wrapped flat bottom steering wheel, connected car technology, etc.
While its official prices will be revealed tomorrow, the new 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift is estimated to cost between Rs 28 lakh – Rs 32 lakh (all, ex-showroom). Here, it will lock horns against the Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass.
