2021 Tata Tigor EV Fastest & Cheapest-to-run Compact Sedan Says Tata

Tata Motors introduced the new Tigor EV with the Ziptron electric powertrain on 31st August 2021. The model lineup is being offered in four variants – XE, XM, XZ+ and XZ+ dual-tone – priced at Rs 11.99 lakh, Rs 12.49 lakh, Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 13.14 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom). Vivek Srivatsa, Head – Marketing, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit at Tata Motors, said that new 2021 Tata Tigor EV is the “fastest” to do 60kms and 100kms from standstill and “cheapest-to-run compact sedan”. The electric sedan is claimed to offer range over 250kms (in real world conditions) and cabin space and comfort better than other petrol/diesel models.  As mentioned above, the new 2021 Tata Tigor EV comes with the brand’s advanced Ziptron technology that includes a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and a 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The electric motor pushes out a peak power of 75bhp and 170Nm of torque. It can achieve 0 to 60kmph in 5.7 seconds. Its battery pack has been rated to IP67 water and dustproofing standards.

The updated Tigor EV can be charged 0 to 80% in 60 minutes via fast charger. The company is offering an 8 year/1,60,000km warranty on the battery and electric motor. The new model promises an ARAI-certified range of 306km. Minor cosmetic changes have also been made to the new 2021 Tata Tigor EV. The electric sedan gets gloss black panel with the electric blue accent instead of the old grille. Other key updates include headlamps get blue highlights, LED DRLs integrated in the front bumper, tweaked fog lamps and newly-designed 14-inch alloy wheels. The new Tigor EV comes in Daytona Grey and Signature Teal Blue colour options.
