Tata Motors will launch a new car in the Indian market on August 4, 2021. The company has sent a media invite with caption “witness the launch of the #Tough and #Sporty avatar of something which is seriously fun.” For people not in the know, Tata is using ‘seriously fun’ tagline for the Tiago.
Tata is most likely to use the tough and sporty tags for the sportier version of the Tiago hatchback, which is called the Tata Tiago NRG. It is expected that the company will launch the 2021 Tata Tiago NRG sporty version will be launched on August 4, 2021. The Tiago NRG was first launched in September 2018. The 2021 Tata Tiago NRG comes with some visual changes and crossover-ish design elements to offer a sporty profile. The Tiago NRG comes with black plastic cladding all around the body, faux skid plate, roof rails and a black insert on the tailgate. A prominent NRG badge is placed on the rear profile. The crossover-hatch rides on newly styled 14-inch alloy wheels.
The 2021 Tata Tiago NRG is expected to receive some changes inside the cabin. It is likely to get all-black interior with orange accents on parts of gearbox housing, AC vents and on central console. The crossover-hatch could receive all-black seats with contrasting orange stitching. The Tiago NRG will feature a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Other features will include power assisted and tilt adjustable steering wheel, power windows and electrically adjustable ORVMs.
The previous Tata Tiago NRG was equipped with a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine and a 1.05-litre NA diesel. In the BSVI avatar, the crossover-hatch will get the BSVI compliant 1.2-litre 3-cylinder NA petrol engine that produces 84bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.
