Renault’s Dacia Bigster Production-Model Appears Online

Renault’s low-cost brand, Dacia is working on the new Bigster concept based SUV for the select international markets. Renault will also use this SUV for other markets where Dacia is not present. The new Dacia Bigster concept based SUV is planned to be launched by 2023-24, with production model to be unveiled in 2022-23.

The production version of the Dacia Bigster mid-sized SUV has been leaked on the Internet. These are patent images, and are from European Union patent and registration office. The patent images reveal the possible design changes compared to the concept model. The lines and creases, and in fact design seems identical to the concept. However, it comes with production-ready body parts such as the mirrors and the bumper.

The street version retains the Dacia’s new design identity, featuring the “Y” shaped LED headlamps and flashlights which are identical to the one offered on the new Sandero, Logan and Stepway. In fact, the upgraded version of the second generation Duster (international-spec) will also receive the new lighting system.

The production ready Dacia Bigster SUV will be based on the Renault-Nissan alliance’s CMF-B modular platform, which will also underpin the third generation Duster and the next-gen Nissan Kicks. The Bigster based SUV will be positioned above the regular Duster SUV. It will measure around 4.60 meters in length and will offer seat for 7 adults.

The new model could be called the Grand Duster, which is rumoured to be a 7-seater SUV. Dacia already confirmed that the Bigster will come with combustion engines. The SUV will also get some hybrid engines as well for the European markets. It is expected to feature a conventional hybrid system and a plug-in hybrid (with all-wheel drive system). Renault has already confirmed that it won’t sell diesel engines.

The company claims that the new Dacia Bigster SUV will be the first model to feature the brand’s new logo. Dacia has already filed a trademark for the new badge design design, which is claimed to have a minimalist font. The new badge will appear on the Dacia’s future models. The company’s new five-year strategy promises greater efficiency for the design and production of the future models.

Dacia Bigster Production No Sunroof

We reported earlier that the new Dacia Bigster will be positioned against the likes of the Skoda Karoq and the Volkswagen Tiguan in terms of pricing. However, the size of the SUV will make it an indirect rival to bigger SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq.
