All-New Skoda Sedan (Honda City Rival): New Details Emerge

It is no secret that Skoda is readying an all-new mid-sized sedan, which will be positioned against the new Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Codenamed Skoda ANB, the new mid-sized sedan has recently been caught testing on the Mumbai-Pune highway.

– A new media report claims that the all-new Skoda sedan will be launched in the first quarter of 2022. The new Skoda ANB sedan is expected to be positioned above the existing Rapid, and is likely to be priced around Rs 11 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.

– The report claims that the new Skoda ANB sedan will be offered with two petrol engines – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI. The 3-cylinder petrol engine churns out 113bhp of power and 175Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

– The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine is capable of producing 147bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic.

– The report claims that the new Skoda sedan will feature the brand’s new design. It will feature the new-age Skoda grille, sharp-cut LED headlamps and LED tail-lamps with crystalline effect, floating roof-line, and new alloys. The new model will share most of the features from the new VW Virtus.

– The new Skoda ANB sedan is expected to measure around 4,480mm in length, which will make it significantly longer than the outgoing Rapid. The new model will ride on 2,651mm wheelbase, which will help Skoda to create more space inside the cabin. The boot space is also expected be over 520-litres.

– The new model will receive high-end features such as wireless charging, ‘My Skoda’ connected car tech, a large touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats and automatic AC. The sedan is not likely to get a panoramic sunroof. It will receive a digital instrument console, a premium audio system with six speakers, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, etc.
