2021 Mahindra XUV500 – Top 6 Big Changes On Offer

The next-gen 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will be launched in the first half of 2021, most probably in March-April. The new XUV500 has been spotted testing several times, revealing design and interior details. It will come with all-new design, more modern and feature-loaded interior along with new engine options. The new model will rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Tata Gravitas and the Hyundai Alcazar (7-Seater Creta). In this article, we bring you a list of top 6 big changes on offer with the new-gen XUV500 –

  1. ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant Features)The spy images confirm that the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will come with high-end advanced driver assistance System/features (ADAS). The SUV will be fitted with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Park Assist. It will be the only product in its category to offer Advanced Driver Assistance System.

2. New Platform – The new XUV500 will be designed and developed on the new front-wheel-drive monocoque platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Ford C-SUV. The new platform will be compatible to accommodate different body styles and different engine options.

3. Mercedes-Like TouchscreenThe spy images confirms that the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will come with Mercedes-Benz inspired instrument panel and a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. There will be a dashboard integrated single-piece wide display that accommodates touchscreen infotainment system as well as instrument console. The SUV will also receive connected car technologies.

4. New Design, Interior – The styling of the new XUV500 will be inspired by the Funster concept, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new model will receive new family design with angular headlamp clusters and boomerang shaped LED DRLs, a bolder 7-slat grille, L-shaped horizontally stacked LED tail-lamps and flush-fitting door handles. The new XUV500 will ride on longer wheelbase, which should translate into more space inside the cabin. It reveal the clean and clutter-free dashboard, flat-bottom steering wheel, fully digital instrument console, automatic climate control, and chrome finish around AC vents and on door handles, etc.

5. 6-and 7-seat Options –  The new model will grow in size, which means it will offer more legroom, shoulder space and headroom for rear occupants. It will be offered in 6- and 7-seat options. The six-seater version will have captain seats for the second-row occupants, while the 7-seater model will have bench-type seats.

6. New Engines – If media reports are to be believed, the new XUV500 will come with more than one petrol engine option. The SUV will receive a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the new Thar; however, this engine will offer power up to 190bhp. The other versions are likely to receive detuned version of this engine; though, power figures are yet to be released. The SUV will also receive the BS6-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is expected to produce close to 180bhp of power.
