2021 Mahindra XUV500 Rendered With More Aggressive Front

The new-generation Mahindra XUV500 and Scorpio will be the next two big launches from the home-grown carmaker. Both models are slated to hit roads early next year. While the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will come in the first quarter (January – March), the new Scorpio will come between April – June 2021. We have seen the new-gen XUV500 (camouflaged) multiple times in spy pictures and several digital renderings. A latest rendering previews the SUV with a more aggressive front fascia.

The rendered model features newly-designed headlamps with DRLs featuring twin lighting elements. The daytime running lights seem borrowed from the XUV300, but with different detailing. The multi-slat grille looks quite familiar. The front bumper and bonnet carry sharp creases further enhancing its aggressive appearance.

The spy pictures reveal that the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will feature boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, angular headlamp clusters, flush-fitting door handles and L-shaped taillamp clusters. Significant changes will also be made to its interior. The new-generation model will come with a newly-designed dashboard, center console, steering wheel, Mercedes-like twin displays (one for infotainment unit and one for the instrument cluster) and more.

If reports are to be believed, the new Mahindra XUV500 2021 will be the first vehicle in its category to offer the level 1 autonomous technology. This will also make it the most affordable car to offer this feature. This time around, the SUV will come with both 6 and 7-seat configurations.

On the engine front, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will get a new 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged mStallion petrol and a more powerful 2.2L mHawk diesel motor. The gasoline makes a maximum power of 190bhp with 380Nm of torque and the oil burner has been upgraded to deliver 152bhp with 360Nm. The new XUV500 will be offered with both 6-speed stick shift and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. The automatic unit might be sourced from Aisin.
