The home-grown carmaker is set to give a much-needed generation change to its highly popular SUV – Mahindra XUV500. The carmaker has already confirmed that the SUV’s second-generation model will arrive in the first quarter of 2021, followed the new-gen Scorpio. According to a fresh media report, the company might announce prices of the new 2021 Mahindra XUV500 in coming April. Its current-generation model will be out of production by the end of January, 2021.
The SUV will take a big leap in terms of design, features and engine mechanism. While the current model is available with diesel engine only, the new one will come with a new 2.0L mStallion petrol and a more powerful diesel motor. The gasoline unit will make power worth 190bhp and the oil burner will be good enough for 180bhp. This time around, the SUV will also receive an optional 6-speed automatic gearbox along with a manual unit.
The existing diesel models are priced from Rs 13.57 lakh to Rs 19.30 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The carmaker recently announced that it will increase prices by 3 percent across its model range from 1st January, 2021. Prices of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 diesel are likely to start from Rs 14 lakh and go up to Rs 19.50 lakh. The petrol variants might be offered at a starting price of Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
If reports are to be believed, the new Mahindra XUV500 will be the first vehicle in its category to offer Level 1 Autonomous Technology. There might also be several other advanced electronic features such as a 3D panoramic vision for driver, a radar system, autonomous braking system, an eyelid tracking mechanism and more. The SUV will witness noticeable cosmetic changes as well. Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to change its brand logo and the new one is reported to debut with the second-generation Mahindra XUV500.
