Jeep India has confirmed launch of the Made-in-India 2021 Jeep Wrangler for 15th March 2021. The off-road SUV will come to India as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit instead of a CBU (Completely Built Unit). It CKD kit will be assembled at the carmaker’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune in Maharashtra.
The new model will surely be more affordable than the existing CBU unit that costs Rs 68.94 lakh (ex-showroom). Ahead of its launch, the clear pictures of the Made-in-India Wrangler have emerged on the web revealing its exterior and interior details.
Interior of the new 2021 Jeep Wrangler has witnessed some significant changes. You can notice a newly-designed dashboard and an UConnect 4C NAV 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation. The SUV also gets premium leather upholstery with contrasting white stitching, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, passive keyless entry, and many more goodies. The new Wrangler comes with electrically activated differential locks with the central console integrated controls. It has a new 4WD (four-wheel-drive) auto mode that works in tandem with sensors measuring traction slip. Under the hood, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler employs a 2.0L high power turbo petrol motor paired to a new 8-speed automatic gearbox. The gasoline unit delivers a peak power of 268bhp at 5250rpm and 400Nm of torque at 3000rpm.
In other news, the American carmaker is planning to unveil the Compass-based 7-seater SUV towards the end of this year. Codenamed Jeep H6, the new SUV will make its way to India in the second half of 2022. Here, it will lock horns against Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and MG Gloster. Powering the model will be 2.0L turbo Multijet diesel engine that’s good for 200bhp. For performing transmission duties, it will have a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The SUV’s higher variants might get AWD system.
