It is no secret that Jeep is developing a new sub-4 meter SUV for the growing markets including India. The new compact SUV is scheduled to be launched in our market in 2022. It will rival the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and others in the category.

The new model was speculated to be based on the Fiat Panda’s 4×4 platform; however, new media reports suggests that the Jeep sub-4 meter SUV will be based on the Groupe PSA’s CMP (Common Modular Platform). This platform currently underpins the Peugeot 208. In fact, the Citroen’s upcoming locally developed cars including the C21 compact SUV will be based on the simplified version of this platform. For people not in the know, FCA and Groupe PSA joined hands to form a new company called the Stellantis. The upcoming Jeep compact SUV could be the first model under the new JV in India.
