The long-awaited 2021 Jeep Compass facelift is reportedly to be unveiled at the Guangzhou Salon in China, which is scheduled to happen on November 22, 2020. The updated model has been spotted several times during its test rounds in India as well as on foreign soil.
The 2021 Jeep Compass facelift is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market next year. The updated model will receive significant design changes, but the overall profile will remain intact. The spy images confirm that the updated SUV will have an all-new seven-slat top grille. Adding to it, the SUV gets a slightly narrower headlamp unit.
The rear of the Compass facelift is not likely to receive any major changes. It is expected to feature revised bumper with slightly altered bumper diffuser and the taillights. The SUV will also receive newly styled alloys. Expect major changes inside the cabin, as it is rumoured to receive an all-new dashboard design. The central console will be dominated by a new tablet-styled 10-inch vertically-stacked infotainment system. It is also expected to receive all-new digital instrument console and 360 degree camera.
The report also claims that the updated Compass could adopt the latest L2 autonomy, which will allow the SUV to feature advanced driver assistance features. These features will include highway assist, traffic jam assists, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, driver attention alert and active blind-spot assist.
The 2021 Jeep Compass will also receive the long-awaited 1.3-litre turbocharged engine, which is likely to produce around 180bhp of power and 285Nm of torque. This engine will be coupled to a CVT-type automatic transmission. The diesel engine will also be upgraded for higher efficiency. The India-spec model is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 173bhp and 350Nm of torque.
The report claims that Jeep will also showcase the hybrid 4XE Compass at the Chinese event. The 4XE hybrid variant will be powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine with electric motor. It is capable of producing up to 240bhp and offers efficiency up to 47.6kmpl. The SUV can run up to 50km on electric mode.
The Compass facelift will arrive in our market in the mid-2020. The company is also testing an all-new 7-seater SUV, which will be based on the FCA’s Small-Wide 4×4 platform. This is the same platform that also underpins the Compass and the Renegade. Jeep is also developing a sub-Renegade SUV, which will debut in 2022.
