Ford Motor Company is planning to expand its Indian product portfolio in coming years. One of the major launches from the American carmaker will be a new C-SUV (codenamed CX757) that will face challenge from cars like Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. It will be the first production model to be developed and produced under Ford-Mahindra partnership.
The upcoming Ford C-SUV might share its powertrain with the new-generation Mahindra XUV500 that’s due for April 2021. The latter will come with 190bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol and 185bhp, 2.2L diesel engine options. The new C-SUV is expected to hit roads by the end of this year. Besides this, the American carmaker is planning to bring in some of its globally popular models including Ford Focus, Focus ST and Ranger Raptor.
The company will also give a generation change to its popular EcoSport subcompact SUV sometime next year. Prior to that the carmaker will introduce the 2021 Ford EcoSport facelift with minor cosmetic and feature upgrades along with a new engine. It’s expected to see a release by mid 2021. The model will be made available with Mahindra’s new 1.2L mStallion TGDi turbocharged petrol engine that broke cover at the 2020 Auto Expo. The same powertain will also be used in the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 Sportz.
Mahindra’s new petrol motor will come as a replacement to the 1.0L EcoBoost motor. The motor has been tuned for producing a peak power of 130bhp and 230Nm of torque. The subcompact SUV’s updated model lineup will also be available with the existing 1.5L turbo diesel engine that returns a claimed power of 99bhp and 215Nm of torque.
As of now, details of the 2021 Ford EcoSport facelift are scanty. Though, the model is likely to witness noticeable metal changes along with minor cosmetic and feature upgrades. Some of its key changes might include a larger radiator grille, sleeker headlamps, a triple LED DRLs, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, newly-designed dashboard, etc.
