The new-generation Mahindra Thar has been receiving an overwhelming response from buyers. The proof of its popularity lies in the fact that the off-road SUV received over 15,000 bookings within 18 days of its launch. Customers are still lining up for their cars and the new Thar now commands a waiting period of up to 5 months. As per the leaked document, the Hard Top variants of the 2020 Mahindra Thar are observing the highest waiting period of 20-22 weeks.
While buyers of the Convertible Top variants will have to wait for 8 to 11 weeks, the Soft Top models command waiting period of 6 to 8 weeks. One must note that the waiting period will vary dealership wise. Deliveries of the new Thar will begin from 1st November, 2020. The top-end variants of the SUV are high in demand. The new Thar comes in AX and LX trims, which are Adventure and Lifestyle oriented respectively.
Based on the new ladder-frame chassis, the 2020 Mahindra Thar is available with two engine options. The petrol version comes powered by a 152bhp, new 2.0-litre ‘mStallion’ unit that can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel model features a 132hp, 2.2-litre mHawk motor with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. Some of its key features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, , a colour multi-info display for the instrument cluster, roof-mounted speakers, steering-mounted controls and cruise control. On the safety front, the SUV offers dual airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability program with roll over mitigation, ISOFIX child-seat mounts and hill-start and descent assist.
