It was speculated that Toyota will launch the Fortuner facelift SUV in the country during festive season, Diwali. If reports are to be believed, the updated model will be launched in early 2021. Adding to it, the Toyota Fortuner facelift will receive a more powerful iteration of the existing 2.8L diesel engine.
The Toyota Fortuner facelift has recently been launched in the Southeast Asian markets. The report claims that the India-spec model could be offered with a diesel engine that will offer over 500Nm of torque. In Thailand, the updated SUV is available with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine that produces 201bhp and 500Nm of torque. This makes it 27bhp more powerful and 50Nm torquier than the India-spec model.
In India, the SUV is powered by a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This engine is capable of producing 175bhp of power at 3,400rpm and a peak torque of 450Nm at 1,600-2,400rpm. This engine with 6-speed manual gearbox offers slightly lesser peak torque of 420Nm between 1,400-2,600rpm.
The Fortuner facelift comes with significant design changes. Majority of the changes are made to the front profile, which now has new larger mesh-pattern grille, new LED headlamps with LED DRLs, and new bumper with revised fog lamp enclosure and new silver skid plate. It rides on newly developed 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the updated Fortuner retains the dashboard design. It features a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV comes fitted with new instrument console, 8-way powered driver and co-driver’s seat, a 360 degree camera, wireless smartphone charging and multiple airbags.
The company has also revealed the Innova facelift for the Indonesian markets. The new model received design changes, upgraded interior along with new features. It will be launched in our market in 2021.
