New-generation Mahindra Thar is one of the big launches of this year. The off-road SUV was launched on 2nd October, and within three days of its arrival it recorded over 9,000 bookings. The carmaker has already confirmed that the deliveries of the new Thar will begin from 1st November. According to a latest media report, the 2020 Mahindra Thar is currently observing a waiting period of up to 3 months. That means, customers might get Thar’s delivery by the end of December.
Most customers are booking top-end variant of the new Thar. The SUV model lineup comes in three trims – AX, AX (O) and LX. The fully-loaded LX model comes with features such as LED DRLs and front fog lamps, 18-inch alloys with 255/65 R18 tyres, dual-tone bumpers, moulded footsteps, fender mounted antenna, 8-way adjustable front seats with height and lumbar adjust, fabric upholstery, speed sensing front door locks, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and navigation, roof-mounted speakers, steering mounted controls and more.
On the safety front, the 2020 Mahindra Thar LX offers hill start and descent assist, tyre direction monitor, tyre pressure monitor, electronic stability programme with rollover mitigation, brake locking diff, three point seatbelts for all four passengers, roll cage, speed sensing front door locks and Isofix child seat mounts. The new Thar AX variants are available with both 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The top-end LX models can be had with 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel with manual and automatic gearbox options. The gasoline motor makes a top power of 152bhp and the oil burner returns 132bhp. The all-new Thar looks more rugged and packed with modern comfort and connectivity features. In fact, its off-road capabilities are much better than before.
