Audi’s smallest and most affordable SUV has finally arrived in the Indian market. Called the Audi Q2, the compact SUV comes in five trims – Standard, Premium, Premium Plus 1, Premium Plus 2 and Technology. – While globally the Q2 will soon receive a mid-life update, India gets the pre-facelift model of SUV. It’s the fifth launch from the German carmaker this year, after the Audi Q8, A8L, RS7 and RSQ8.
– All variants of Audi’s new compact SUV are powered by a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine that’s good enough for 187bhp at 4200rpm – 6000rpm and 320Nm at 1500rpm 4100rpm.
– Transmission duties are done by a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The motor can go 100kmph from standstill in 6.5 seconds and offers a top speed of 228kmph. Audi’s Quattro AWD (all-wheel-drive) system is standard across the model lineup.
– Audi’s new compact SUV sits on Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform. It’s 4190mm long, 1749mm wide and 1508mm tall. While its dimensions are similar to the Audi A3, it has more cabin and cargo space to offer.
– With respect to features, the Audi Q2 offers a 10-speakers audio system, Audi virtual cockpit, dual-zone automatic climate control, sunroof, Audi phone box, MMI interface, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless charger, ambient lighting, sports seats with leather upholstery, parking aid plus and many more. Though, it misses out some important features such as electrical adjustment for the front seats, a touchscreen system and rear AC vents.
– Upfront, the Audi Q2 carries LED headlamps with LED DRLs and a singleframe grille in octagonal design. The sloping roof merging into the C-pillars with colour offset blades. At the back, the new Audi compact SUV features a wide tailgate, square-ish taillamps, black cladding across the bumpers, a diffuser with an underbody protection look and a long roof edge spoiler.
– The company is offering a ‘Peace of Mind’ benefit as an introductory offer with the Q2 SUV. It includes a 5 year comprehensive service package with extended warranty and road side assistance.
