– The new-gen Hyundai i20 offers segment-leading features, multiple engine-gearbox options as well as top-notch quality/fit & finish. With all these attributes, the new model is priced significantly higher than the previous model.

– The new i20 1.2L version is available in the price bracket of Rs 6.79 lakh and Rs 9.70 lakh, while the turbocharged 1.0L version of the hatchback is priced between Rs 8.80 lakh and 11.18 lakh. The diesel i20 is priced at Rs 8.20 lakh for base model and Rs 10.60 lakh for the top-end variant.

– Tata is offering the Altroz in multiple variants. The petrol version is available at a starting price of 5.44 lakh, which goes up to Rs 7.89 lakh for the top-end variant. On the other hand, the diesel Altroz is priced between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 9.09 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi.

– The new Hyundai i20 is significantly pricier than the Tata Altroz hatchback. However, the i20 offers more engine-gearbox options and several segment-leading features.

– The new i20 is available in 3 engine options – a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel. Available with 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox options, the 1.2L NA engine is capable of producing 82bhp and 114Nm of torque. The 1.0L turbocharged engine produces 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. For transmission duties, this variant gets iMT (6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission) and a 7-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch transmission). Paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 1.5L diesel engine is capable of producing 99bhp and 240Nm of torque.

– The Altroz premium hatchback is available with 2 BSVI compliant engines – a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel. While the former is capable of producing 86bhp of power and 113Nm of torque, the oil burner is good for 90bhp and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

– Tata Motors will soon introduce the Altroz hatchback with a turbocharged petrol engine. The Altroz Turbo variant will be powered by a 1.2L turbocharged engine that produces 108bhp at 5,500rpm and a peak torque of 140Nm between 1500rpm – 5500rpm. There will be a 5-speed manual gearbox to perform transmission duties.

– The Altroz petrol is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 19.05kmpl. On the other hand, the diesel delivers 25.11kmpl.

– While the 1.2L MT of the new Hyundai i20 is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 21kmpl, the 1.2L CVT version delivers 19.65kmpl. The 1.0L iMT and DCT versions will return 20kmpl and 20.28kmpl respectively. The diesel i20 is claimed to offer ARAI rated 25kmpl of mileage.

– Sits below 4 meter in length, the Altroz is based on the new ALFA modular platform that also underpins the upcoming HBX micro SUV. In terms of proportions, the hatchback is 3,990mm long, 1,755mm wide, and 1,523mm tall, and has a wheelbase with 2,501mm. It has ground clearance of 165mm and offers a boot space of 345-litres, which can be further extended to 665-litres by folding the rear seats.

– The dimensions of the India-spec new i20 has been increased significantly; however, it still sits below 4 meters in length. The premium hatchback measures 3,995mm in length, 1,775mm in width, 1,505mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,580mm. Compared to the previous model, it is 10mm longer, 41mm wider and rides on 10mm longer wheelbase.

– The new i20 is 5mm longer and 20mm wider than the Altroz; however, the Altroz is 18mm taller. Adding to it, the new i20 has 79mm longer wheelbase. This translates into more cabin space, specifically for the rear occupants.

– The new i20 offers a boot space of 310-litres, which is 35-litres less than the Altroz’s 345-litres of boot.

– The Tata Altroz is equipped with a host of comfort and convenience features like 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Harman-sourced music system, 7-inch digital instrument console, automatic AC, cruise control, idle start-stop system, push-button start-stop, front and rear fog lamps and projector headlamps.

– The Altroz also gets segment-first media and navigation mirroring system. The hatchback also has electric tailgate release and rain sensing wipers.

– Other features include multi-functional steering wheel, air purifier with virus protection, wireless charging system, cruise control, automatic AC, sunroof, Bose premium sound system, rear view camera, etc.
