Tata Altroz Turbo-Petrol Teased Ahead of Diwali Launch

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch a new, more powerful version of the Altroz premium hatchback this Diwali season. We have seen the model multiple times during its test rounds. Now, the carmaker has teased the upcoming turbo-petrol variant revealing its feature details. Though, it was a short duration appearance on the company’s official website. Visually, the Tata Altroz turbo-petrol looks exactly similar to the standard model. It’s the ‘iturbo’ badge on the black rear section that distinguishes it from the regular petrol version.

While engine details of the upcoming new variant are yet to be revealed by the carmaker, it’s reported to come with a 1.2L turbocharged petrol motor. The motor has been tuned for generating a peak power of 108bhp at 5500rpm and 140Nm between 1500rpm – 5500rpm. There will be a 5-speed manual gearbox to perform transmission duties.

Tata Altroz Milege

Rumour has it that Tata might introduce a new dual-clutch automatic gearbox with the Altroz turbo-petrol model. The same DCT unit will also be offered on other model lineup in near future. The carmaker says that the new DCT gearbox will be “more sophisticated” than the existing AMT units. It has been designed for compact vehicle, sourced from Punch. Compared to the conventional DCT units or torque convertor systems, the Altroz’s 7-speed DT-1 dual clutch transmission will be more affordable. Currently, the Tata Altroz model lineup is also available with 1.2L, naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine options. While the gasoline unit produces a top power of 85bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm at 3,300rpm, the oil burner returns a claimed power of 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm between 1,250-3,000rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard across the lineup.
