The long-awaited 3rd generation Hyundai i20 has finally been launched in the Indian market. Available in Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O) – the all-new Hyundai i20 is available in the price bracket of Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 11.18 lakh. Equipped with segment-leading features, the new i20 premium hatch directly rivals the segment-leader Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Tata Altroz.

The 3rd generation Hyundai i20 is being offered in 4 trim levels – Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O) – and in total of 24 different variants. The compact SUV is available in petrol and diesel fuel options. The petrol i20 is available in the price bracket of Rs 6.80 lakh to Rs 11.18 lakh, while the diesel version is priced between Rs 8.20 lakh and Rs 10.60 lakh.

The Magna trim is available with 1.2L MT and 1.5L Diesel MT engine-gearbox combinations. The Sportz trim is offered with 3 engine-gearbox combinations – 1.2L Petrol with MT & CVT, 1.0L Petrol with iMT and 1.5L Diesel with MT. The Asta Trim is offered with 1.2L Petrol and 1.0L petrol. The new-gen i20 shares the engine and gearbox options with the Venue sub-4 meter SUV. It is offered in 3 engine options – a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel.

The 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine churns out a maximum power output of 83bhp and a peak torque of 114Nm. It is the same engine that powers the previous generation i20, Grand i10 Nios, Grand i10, Aura and the Venue. The i20’s 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is currently offered with the Venue compact SUV, Grand i10 Nios and the Aura sub-4 meter sedan. This engine is capable of producing 118bhp of power and 175Nm of torque. For transmitting power, the 3-cylinder turbo engine is paired to either a 6-speed iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) and a 7-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch Automatic).

The 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine churns out a maximum power output of 99bhp and a peak torque of 240Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The new Hyundai i20 1.2L manual returns an ARAI certified fuel economy of 21kmpl, while the 1.2L CVT delivers 19.65kmpl. The 1.0L iMT and DCT versions will return 20kmpl and 20.28kmpl respectively. The diesel i20 is claimed to offer ARAI rated 25kmpl of mileage.

The 3rd generation Hyundai i20 is available in 8 colour options including 6 monotone and 2 dual-tone. The colour choices include Sun Burn Sway, Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Starry Night, Fiery Red and Titan Grey.
