200bhp Hyundai i20 N Inspired by WRC Rally Car Teased

After introducing the i20 N Line, the Korean automaker has now revealed the first teaser of its upcoming high-performance hatchback, the all-new Hyundai i20 N. The company claims that the new i20 N is a racetrack capable hot hatchback, which is inspired by the i20 WRC rally car.

To be launched in the European markets, the Hyundai i20 N will join the brand’s high-performance line-up comprising of the i30 N and the i30 Fastback N. The company hasn’t released the engine specifications, but it is claimed that the new i20 N offers “exclusive engine performance and dynamic technologies to satisfy performance-oriented enthusiasts”.

Media reports suggest that the new Hyundai i20 N will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces close to 200bhp and 300Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 3-pedal manual transmission. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via an electronically-controlled differential. The hot hatch will also receive tuned suspension set-up and bigger brakes.

The new model is designed on Hyundai’s new Sensuous Sportiness design language, which we have already seen on the brand’s new breed of cars. The teaser shows that a large air intake for the turbo engine and brake cooling dominates the front profile. The side profile has bespoke 18-inch wheels with a grey matte finish and N-branded brake, along with uniquely styled side sills. The hatchback also gets a distinctive rear spoiler that enhances its aerodynamic performance.

The Hyundai i20 N will have performance Blue colour with Phantom Black roof for an optional dual-tone scheme, and red exterior accents to show Hyundai’s motorsport DNA. Inside the cabin, the hot hatchback will have sportier seats and high-end features. Red treatment is also expected inside the cabin.
