20,000 Ola Electric Scooters Sold In October – Highest Ever

According to the Vahan portal, Ola Electric managed to dispatch 20,000 units of the electric scooters in October 2022. The company became India’s first EV marker to achieve such highest sales numbers. Ola registered a 60 per cent month on month growth that translates to around 8,000 units.

The Bangalore-based EV company outsold all its rivals including Okinawa, Ampere, Hero Electric, Ather Energy, TVS and Bajaj that recorded total sales of 11,754 units, 8,812 units, 8,348 units, 6,976 units, 5,205 units and 3,265 units respectively. During this festive season month, the entire electric two-wheeler market clocked its highest-ever sales with a growth of around 30 per cent.

In September 2022, Ola Electric announced its plan to setup over 200 experience centres across India by March 2023. These touchpoints will help the company to showcase and explain its electric scooters better to its customers. If media reports are to be believed, the Ola experience centres will work as after sales and service touchpoints as well.

The newly-launched Ola S1 Air, the more affordable variant of the Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters, has helped boost the company’s total sales. Ola has already confirmed that deliveries of the new e-scooter will begin in the first quarter of 2023. The model uses a smaller 2.5kWh capacity battery pack connected to a hub-mounted 4.5kW, electric motor. The Ola S1 Air is claimed to deliver a range of 101km in Eco mode and a maximum speed of 90kmph.

The S1 Air’s battery pack takes 4 hours 30 minutes to get fully charged via a home charger. It comes with three riding modes – Eco, Normal and Sports. The e-scooter has been equipped with the telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. Braking power is derived from the front and rear drum brakes. It has a under seat storage space of 34-litres.
