New Honda WR-V Vs Old WR-V – Specifications Comparison

Japanese automaker, Honda has officially revealed the new-gen WR-V in the Indonesian market. The new Honda WR-V is based on the platform which underpinned the previous-gen/4th gen City and the Amaze sedan on sale in India. In fact, the older WR-V is also based on the Jazz or 4th gen City platform. The new model grows in size and is longer, wider and taller than the older model.

– In terms of proportions, the new WR-V is 4,060mm in length, 1,780mm in width and 1,608mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,485mm. The compact SUV has a ground clearance of 220mm, which is one of the highest in its segment.

– The older WR-V sits under 4 meters in length in our market. It measures 3,999mm in length, 1,734mm in width and 1,601mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,555mm. It has a ground clearance of 188mm.

– Compared to the older model, the new WR-V is 61mm longer, 46mm wider and 7mm taller. However, it rides on 70mm shorter wheelbase. The new model has 32mm higher ground clearance.

– Powering the new WR-V is a 1.5-litre i-VTEC 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the City sedan. This engine is capable of producing 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT automatic gearbox.

– The India-spec WR-V is available with two engine options – a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel. While the former is good for 89bhp and 110Nm of torque, the diesel engine produces 99bhp and 200Nm of torque. Both engines are available with 5-speed manual gearbox.

– The older model rides on 16-inch wheels shod with 195/60 section tyre. On the flip-side, the new Honda WR-V is offered with 16 and 17-inch wheels wrapped in 215/55 and 215/60 section tyres respectively.

The new WR-V is a production version of the Honda Concept RS SUV, which was unveiled at the 2021 GIIAS. It shares styling cues from bigger Honda SUVs like the HR-V and the CR-V on sale in international markets. The SUV has a coupe-SUV like profile, featuring a tapering roofline and HR-V like angular tailgate design. It comes with large glasshouse and has steeply raked front and rear glass. There is a prominent shoulder line and strong body cladding on the lower area of the doors. It comes with wraparound headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, which seamlessly merges with the chrome studded grille. There is a chrome bar running above the grille and the headlamp setup.

The lower bumper has wider air-dam, newly styled fog lamp housing on either sides and faux skid plate. The new WR-V comes with a striking C-pillar and raked rear tailgate design. The SUV has horizontally placed slimmer LED tail-lamps, and new bumper that accommodates license plate and a faux skid plate.

The new Honda WR-V cabin shares huge resemblance with the Amaze sedan on sale in our market. It shares the dashboard design, infotainment system, steering wheel and instrument console with the Amaze sedan. It gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with handsfree telephony and smartphone connection. The new WR-V also gets Honda LaneWatch, which we have already seen on the new City sedan.

For safety & security, the new Honda WR-V gets 6 airbags, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, ABS with EBD & Brake Assist, Brake override system and others. Adding to it, the new WR-V gets Honda Sensing Suite that’s ADAS tech with features like Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lead car departure notification system and Auto High Beam.
