Toyota Kirloskar Motor is ready expand its product portfolio with three new SUVs including a SUV Coupe (based on the Maruti Fronx), a Corolla Cross-based three-row model and the new-generation Fortuner. While the new Toyota SUV Coupe is reported to go on sale in the second half of 2023, the all-new Fortuner will make its global debut in 2024. Toyota Corolla Cross Based SUV
The Corolla Cross 7-seater SUV will be Toyota’s answer to Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Meridian. It will be designed on the modular TNGA-C platform that’s compatible to both FWD and AWD system. The model will come with flat foldable seats and an electrically operated tailgate. Under the hood, the new Toyota three-row SUV is likely to feature a 2.0L, 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle and a 2.0L petrol engine. The same powertrains do duty in the Innova Hycross. The strong hybrid setup pushes a claimed power of 184bhp with an e-Drive transmission. The regular petrol motor makes a top power of 172bhp and 205Nm of torque. New-Gen Toyota Fortuner
The next-generation Fortuner is one of the much-awaited upcoming Toyota 7-seater SUVs in India. The SUV will feature the Innova Hycross’ TNGA-F platform that will help the carmaker reduce development cost and time. The same architecture underpins Toyota’s global model including Sequoia, Tundra and Land Cruiser. Major feature upgrades will be made to the 2024 Toyota Fortuner. The model will come with the ADAS suite along with the electric steering wheel and vehicle stability control system.
