2 New Toyota Cars Launching Soon – New Camry, Hilux

Japanese automaker, Toyota is gearing up for the launch of two all-new cars in the Indian market. The company has released a teaser video of the 2022 Camry hybrid, which is likely to arrive in next few days. The teaser comes with a tagline “Feels like Going From Zero To Breath-Taking In The Blink Of An Eye”. Not just new Camry, the company will also launch the globally popular Hilux Pick-up.

The 2022 Toyota Camry hybrid will come with updated exterior and interior along with new features. It gets a restyled front fascia with a new grille and bumper. The sedan also gets new set of LED tail-lights and a newly designed alloy wheels.

The 2022 Camry hybrid will retain the existing engine that is a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is paired with an electric motor. The powertrain pushes out a combined 215bhp and 221Nm of torque. It is paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

It also comes equipped with updated safety tech such as a pre-collision system with features like oncoming vehicle detection, emergency steering assist, lane trance assist, adaptive cruise control, intersection turn-assistance and others.

It is reported that Toyota could launch the Hilux pickup on January 23, 2022; however, official statement is yet to be announced. It will come as a semi-knocked down (SKD) kits and will be assembled at Toyota’s Bidadi plant. Likely to cost around Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh, the Hilux will rival the Isuzu V-Cross.

It will be powered by a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine that powers the Fortuner Legender. This engine produces 201bhp and 500Nm of torque, and will be offered manual and automatic gearbox options. It will come with an all-wheel-drive layout with a locking differential.

The Toyota Hilux is also expected to get the brand’s A-TRAC – Active Traction Control. This system detects lose of traction in one or more wheels and applies the brake to the wheel that has lost traction.
