2 New MG SUVs To Launch In 2021 – Expected Prices & Details

Morris Garages has confirmed the updated MG ZS EV and its petrol iteration for India. While the new ZS EV is slated to launch on coming 8th February, the MG ZS petrol will hit showrooms in the second half of 2021. Talking about the electric SUV, the 2021 model year is likely to witness minor changes in terms of design and features. Its powertrain might remain unchanged.

Similar to the current model, the 2021 MG ZS EV will feature a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 44.5kWh battery. The motor promises a peak power of 143bhp and 353Nm of torque.

The electric SUV offers a range of 340km in standard test conditions. Its battery takes 16 to 18 hours to get charge up to 80% via a 15A power socket, 6-8 hours with a 7kW AC wall charger and around 50 minutes via a 50kW DC fast charger. Read – New MG Hector CVT Automatic Variant Coming Soon

At present, the SUV is available in two variants – Excite and Exclusive – priced at Rs 20.88 lakh and Rs 23.58 lakh respectively. The 2021 MG ZS EV is likely to witness a minor price hike. The model will continue to take on the Hyundai Kona EV that costs between 2.76 lakh – 23.95 lakh, ex-showroom.

MG ZS India Spec

The MG ZS petrol will be an important launch from the British carmaker this year. The model will be placed against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, which are currently dominating the segment. The SUV’s petrol version will feature a 1.0L, direct-injector motor delivering power worth 111bhp and 160Nm of torque. It’s capable to do 0 to 100kmph in 12.4 seconds and attain a top speed of 180kmph.

For performing transmission duties, the SUV will have a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Prices of the MG ZS petrol are likely to start from Rs 11 lakh for the base model and go up to Rs 16 lakh for the top-end variant.
