MG Motors has officially announced to launch an all-new MG ZS EV in the Indian market on February 8, 2021. The company hasn’t reveal any details about the new 2021 MG ZS electric. We believe that the new model could receive updated interior and exterior along with an upgraded powertrain.

Inside the cabin, the 2021 MG ZS Electric is expected to get a larger 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system instead of an 8-inch unit in the current car. It will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and will also support MG’s upgraded Connected Car Tech – iSmart. The SUV comes with revised piano-styled control buttons on the centre console for audio and air-conditioning. It will also receive digital instrument console, 360 degree camera and navigation system.

The new 2021 MG ZS Electric is also likely to receive autonomous emergency braking system, which we have already seen in the Gloster SUV. The SUV could also get ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) with features like blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control.

MG ZS EV

The current model is equipped with a 44.5kWh liquid-cooled battery pack that powers an electric motor. The electric motor pushes out a maximum power of 143bhp and a peak torque of 353Nm. The electric SUV has been offered with FWD system and a single-speed automatic gearbox. It is claimed to offer a range of 340km on full charge. The SUV accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 8.5 seconds. The battery can be charged up to 80% in 50 minutes via a 50kW DC fast charger and around 6-8 hours via a 7.4kW AC home charger.

We believe that the new ZS EV could receive a bigger battery pack, which should offer a range of over 400km on a single charge. The company could introduce new powertrain along with the existing model.
