With an aim to tap the growing SUV segment, Maruti Suzuki has planned several new models right from a new mid-size SUV (developed under Suzuki-Toyota joint venture) to a premium 7-seater SUV. This year, the company will bring in the second-generation Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Creta’s rival. If reports are to be believed, the former will come in May and latter will hit roads near around 2022 Diwali season. Here’re key details of these two Maruti Suzuki SUVs.
2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza
The new-generation Maruti Brezza is surely one of the biggest car launches of this year. We have already got so much information about the product, though most of them are reports and speculations. If rumours are to be believed, the 2022 Maruti Brezza will come with a 1.5L K15C Dualjet petrol engine that will be more fuel efficient and powerful. This time around, the model lineup might drop the SHVS mild hybrid technology. The existing 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox will be replaced with a new 6-speed automatic unit. Besides significant cosmetic changes, the subcompact SUV will come with several new features including a 9.0-inch touchscreen with the updated SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment software, a 360 degree camera, sunroof, HUD unit, 6 airbags and electronic stability program.
New Maruti Mid-Size SUV
The company is currently testing its upcoming mid-size SUV that will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi facility. Codenamed, Maruti YFG, the new model will be designed on Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Generation Architecture) platform. Some of its design bits could be borrowed from the global-spec Toyota Corolla Cross and Suzuki A-Cross. On the feature front, the SUV might offer a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, digital instrument console, automatic AC unit and more. Rumour has it that the automaker might equip it with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). The new Maruti SUV could be offered with a strong hybrid petrol powertrain.
