Mahindra & Mahindra is on a roll. The home-grown automaker recently unveiled five electric SUV concepts, namely, XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. The company also confirmed that the XUV.e model will witness a market launch in December 2024 and the first BE electric SUV will arrive in October 2025. Meanwhile, Mahindra is getting ready to launch the new Scorpio Classic and XUV400 electric SUV on 20th August and 6th September 2022 respectively. Here’re key details of both the upcoming SUVs.
Mahindra Scorpio Classic
The SUV will be made available in S and S11 trims, powered by an updated 2.2L Gen 2 mHawk turbo diesel engine. The motor, with a 6-speed manual gearbox, delivers a claimed power of 132bhp and 300Nm of torque. With 55kg lighter engine, the new Mahindra Scorpio Classic will ensure 14% better mileage and handling.
The automaker has also upgraded its steering input, increased roll stiffness and reduced body roll. The SUV can be had in 7 and 9-seats configurations. In terms of features, it gets a new 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto connectivity and screen mirroring, black & beige interior and wooden inserts on the dashboard and centre console. Mahindra XUV400
The automaker will announce prices of the electric version of the Mahindra XUV300 SUV. Called the Mahindra XUV400, the model will be 4.2 meters in length and promise more boot space than its ICE counterpart. A few changes will be made to its final model that will differentiate it from the XUV300.
The SUV will feature a closed-off front grille, new headlamps and taillamps and reprofiled tailgate. Its interior could be equipped with AdrenoX infotainment system and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). Powertrain system of the Mahindra XUV400 will include the high-energy-dense NMC cells sourced from LG Chem. The electric SUV is reported to offer a range of over 400km on a single charge.
