2 All-New Micro SUVs Launching Soon – Hyundai, Toyota

Tata Punch has been leading the micro SUV segment since its launch in October 2021. The model has gained immense popularity among buyers, and considering the fact car manufacturers like Hyundai and Toyota are also gearing up to enter into this space. Just so you know, Maruti Suzuki recently introduced the Fronx mini SUV and brought back its turbo petrol engine with it. Hyundai Exter will go on sale in India on 10th July, while Toyota will bring in the re-badged version of the Maruti Fronx near around 2023 festive season.

Bookings for the Exter have been commenced at an initial sum of Rs 11,000. The micro SUV will come in five trims, with two fuel and gearbox options. Under the hood, the model features a 1.2L petrol engine that’s good enough for 83bhp and 114Nm. With the CNG kit, the motor pushes out a peak power of 69bhp and 95.2Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit. Hyundai has confirmed that the micro SUV will come in six monotone and three dual-tone shades. Estimated to be priced from Rs 6 lakh, the Exter will become the most affordable SUV offering from Hyundai India. More details here…

Maruti Fronx SUV Rivals

Toyota Kirloskar Motor will introduce the re-badged Fronx mini SUV in the second half of 2023. A few cosmetic changes are expected to be made to its design. Reports suggest that the new Toyota coupe SUV might take some design elements from the Yaris Cross that’s sold in the European markets. Interior layout and features are expected to be same as the Fronx. For power, the new Toyota micro SUV will use the 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol and 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engines.
