Maruti Suzuki has officially announced to showcase 16 vehicles at the 2023 Auto Expo. The company will unveil an electric Concept SUV, two all-new SUVs, WagonR Flex Fuel prototype and customised range of existing products including Grand Vitara, XL6, Ciaz, Ertiga, Brezza, Baleno and Swift and others.
Maruti Suzuki pavilion at Auto Expo will be divided in four zones – Sustainability Zone, Technology Zone, Innovation Zone and Adventure Zone. The technology zone will have the brand’s futuristic technologies like ADAS, V2X, cutting-edge powertrains like Intelligent Electric Hybrid using innovative technologies like Robotic touchscreen arm and virtual reality. The Innovation Zone will engage with Varun Dhawan fans as they will be able to strike a pose with the superstar’s 3D character for a unique photo opportunity. In the Adventure Zone, the brand will showcase customised AllGrip Vehicle.
The Auto Expo 2023 will mark the global debut of 3 brand new Maruti Suzuki SUVs including an EV SUV Concept, YTB SUV Coupe or Baleno Cross and the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV. Codenamed YY8, the electric SUV Concept will preview the brand’s upcoming electric SUV that is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2025. The production model will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat based plant, which will also produce vehicles for export markets. It will be designed and developed on Toyota’s 27PL platform, which is an affordable derivative of Toyota’s 40PL global platform.
The Maruti YY8 EV SUV is expected to measure over 4.2 meters in length and will have a wheelbase of 2,700mm. It is expected to be offered with two battery pack options – a 48kWh and 59kWh – with a driving range of 400km and 500km respectively. Suzuki-Toyota JV will source the LFP blade cell batteries from Chinese battery supplier BYD. It will come in both two-wheel-drive & all-wheel-drive layout.
Codenamed YTB, the upcoming Maruti SUV Coupe will be sold exclusively through NEXA premium dealership. Based on Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform, the new SUV Coupe will share the styling cues from the Futuro-e concept unveiled at Auto Expo 2020. The new model will be powered by Suzuki’s 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine and a 1.2L DualJet petrol engine. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
Set to make its global debut at Auto Expo 2023, the 5-door Suzuki Jimny will go on sale in our market by mid-2023. The new model will rival the likes of the Mahindra Thar 5-door and the Force Gurkha 5-door. It will ride on a 300mm longer wheelbase and the length will be increased by 300mm when compared to 3-door Jimny Sierra. The Jimny 5-door will be powered by a 1.5L K15B petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. It will come with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD configuration with manual transfer case and low gear ratio.Â
