The British automaker is ready to give a mid-lift update to its maiden electric car – MG ZS EV. While its official launch date and details are yet to be announced, the 2022 MG ZS EV facelift is reported to hit roads next month (i.e. February). The electric SUV will witness significant changes inside and out along with a bigger capacity battery pack. The updated model will feature a new 51kWh battery that will offer a range around 480km. At present, the ZS EV comes with a 44.5kWh battery pack delivering a claimed range of 419km.
The new 2022 MG ZS EV might share some of its features with the newly-launched Astor SUV. It could be offered with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system (instead of an 8-inch unit), a digital instrument cluster and a wireless phone charger. The electric SUV might also borrow the AI assistant and Level 2 autonomous ADAS from the Astor. Though, these features will make the new ZS EV a more expensive deal. The automaker might also introduce new colours and trims.
On the exterior, the new MG ZS EV will carry slim headlamps with LED DRLs and LED taillamps as we have seen on the Astor. Major change will come in the form of the body-coloured, blanked-off front design replacing the conventional grille. The charging port will be placed next to the MG badge. The front and rear bumpers will also be revised. The electric SUV will come with a new set of alloy wheels.
Talking about MG Motor India’s future plan, the company aims to expand its electric product portfolio with a new mass market electric SUV that will arrive by March 2023. The new model will be priced between Rs 10 lakh – Rs 15 lakh. The company is also planning to localize components including motor and battery assembly for its upcoming models.
