MG Motor India has further expanded the Hector and Hector Plus SUV model lineup with the addition of new CVT petrol variants. The 2021 MG Hector petrol CVT has been made available in Super and Sharp trims priced at Rs 16.51 lakh and Rs 18.09 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom). The new 8-speed CVT automatic variants will be sold alongside the DCT models. It comes with the same 1.5L turbo petrol engine that’s good for 143bhp. The new MG Hector CVT will target at customers who are looking a big SUV with smooth automatic for highways. One must note that the new CVT gearbox is offered on the Hector Plus 6-seater variants only.

No other changes have been made to the model. The SUV also comes with a 170bhp, 2.0L diesel and 1.5L turbo petro with mild hybrid powertrains. A 6-speed gearbox is standard across the model lineup, while a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic is available with non-hybrid turbo-petrol motor only.
Prices of the new MG Hector petrol start from Rs 12.90 lakh for the entry-level Style manual variant and go up to Rs 18.20 lakh for the top-end Sharp DCT dual-tone trim. Minor cosmetic changes have been made to the Hector facelift. The SUV gets a newly-designed grille with revised finish, larger 18-inch alloy wheels, updated front and rear scuff plates and the reflector strip running between the taillamps. The updated Hector comes in a new Starry Blue colour scheme.
The all-black interior has been replaced with the new lighter champagne and black dual-tone theme. On the feature front, the 2021 MG Hector facelift gets wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, an auto-dimming inside rear view mirror. One of the major update comes in the form of Hinglish voice assistant, which can recognize up to 31 commands.
In coming months, the British carmaker will launch the MG ZS petrol with 1.3L turbo and 1.5L VTi naturally aspirated motors. While the former will make 161bhp with 230Nm, the latter will deliver 120bhp with 150Nm. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
