Nissan India has finally launched the new facelifted Sunny sedan in the Indian car market. The updated Sunny feature several external tweaks while the interiors of the sedan have been refreshed as well. First launched in 2011, the company unveiled the facelifted model at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. The petrol version of the Sunny facelift price starts at Rs. 6.99 lakh, while the oil burner introduced at a starting price of Rs. 7.99 lakh. The CVT variant is priced at Rs. 8.91 lakh.
The Nissan Sunny facelift is available in three trim levels- XE, XL and XV. The top-spec XV model is only offered with a diesel powertrain and two accessories packs- Premium Pack 1 and Premium Pack 2. The XE and XL trim is available in both petrol and diesel guise.
The most noticeable exterior change is the new large grille which is flanked by the larger ‘boomerang’ shaped headlamps. Its bumper has been re-designed that feature chrome accents around the fog lamps. The side profile looks identical to its predecessor; however, the company has added more chrome flash to windows line. The outside rear view mirrors come integrated with turn signals, while the wheel arches have been fitted to new alloy wheels. Rear end remains unchanged except the lower bumper which now feature black plastic insert.
The interiors of the new sedan look refreshing and features smart tweaks and added equipments. Known for its massive legroom and headroom space for both front and rear passengers, the Sunny facelift now offers lot more premium feel to its buyers. The changes include a leather wrapped steering wheel, a new central console in a piano black finish and aluminium inserts to give rich feel. The perforated leather seats further improves the overall travelling pleasure.
The Sunny facelift is equipped with advanced features such as smart keyless entry, engine start/stop button, a touchscreen infotainment with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, automatic climate control, rear parking camera and others. On safety front, the vehicle gets features like Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution, brake assist, engine immobilizer, dual front airbags and side impact air bags.
There are no changes to the engine lineup and Nissan Sunny will continue to be powered by the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine. The gasoline mill produces 98bhp and is equipped with a five-speed manual and CVT gearbox as well. On the other hand, the oil burner mated to a five-speed manual gearbox that develops 84bhp. The diesel engine returns an impressive fuel economy of 22.7kmpl which is around 1kmpl more than before.
