Hyundai Kona – India’s First Long-Range Electric Car Launching Tomorrow
Hyundai Kona comes with a 39.2kWh battery generating power worth 131bhp.
The South Korean carmaker is all set to roll out its first electric vehicle in India tomorrow (July 9, 2019). Called the Hyundai Kona, the SUV is claimed to deliver an electric range of 452km (ARAI certified) on a single charge. With such mileage figure, the Kona will become India’s first long-range electric vehicle. Powering the India-spec Hyundai Kona will be a 39.2kWh battery delivering power output of 131bhp with 395Nm of torque. Hyundai’s new electric SUV takes 6 hours to get fully charged. It can accelerate from standstill to 100kmph in 9.3 seconds.
Exterior and interior design of the India-spec Kona is exactly similar to the global model. Some of its key features will include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment ystem with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a Head-Up-Display unit, an 8-speaker audio system with subwoofer, wireless charging and ventilated seats.

On safety ground, the Hyundai Kona will ensure you with six airbags, rear view parking camera, blind spot monitoring system, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD). The carmaker plans to retail the Kona only in 16 cities across India. Select dealerships will have the fast charging source that can juice it up to 80% in just 54 minutes. The company will also offer an optional AC charging station that can fully charge the SUV in 10 hours. Price of the Hyundai Kona will be between Rs 20 lakh – Rs 25 lakh and it will take on the upcoming MG eZS.
