Toyota Turns 20 in India – A deep Inside Bidadi’s Factory

Here is what goes on ‘Behind the Scenes’ in the Toyota’s day to day working at Bidadi Factory.

Recently we got a chance to visit Toyota’s Bidadi plant to find out what goes on ‘Behind the Scenes’ in the company’s day to day working. From transforming lives of students belong to poor families, to how Toyota dealerships ensure the timely delivery of a customer’s vehicle we got to know a wide range of things going around Toyota in India. Here is a wrap –

Transforming lives of students

– The Toyota Technical Training Institute is one of the the CSR activities the brand is doing around the plant. In the Technical institute, students are given free training on the basis of a curriculum that is in-line with the latest demand in the Industry. The company claims that the students are capable enough to dismantle a vehicle completely and put it back again without compromising on the speed, accuracy and quality.

Eco Zone

– The brand is also developing an Eco Zone inside the plant in Bidadi. Spread across 25 acres, the eco zone is covered with solar panels, a wide range of plants, rain water harvesting and many others. Toyota believes that this initiative will help to bring a range of flora and fauna around the plant. The work is currently On and it is expected that the Ecozone will be readied by the end of this year or next year.

– An in-house vehicle recycling system

Toyota is currently working on a number of pilot projects and the recycling of vehicles is one of them. The recycling centre completely dismantles the cars that are not in use and send the parts to government-run facilities for further recycling.

– Remote Servicing Van

Toyota has also developed a smart servicing Van, which is currently doing trial runs. This Van has been developed specifically to give relief to customers staying in rural or remote India. This Van has all the equipment to repair or service a vehicle.

– Express Maintenance service

Following Toyota’s KAIZEN philosophy, Toyota India has introduced the EM60 or Express Maintenance within 60 minutes for periodic maintenance across its 3S (Sale, Service and Support) dealerships. This process is smartly organised to reduce the delivery time for the customer’s vehicle. The vehicle has been serviced within 60 minutes, which covers periodic maintenance as well as washing. Besides EM60, the company has also introduced other packages as well including EM90 and EM120.

Toyota is all set to launch the new Glanza premium hatchback on June 6, 2019, which is the first product under the Toyota-Suzuki alliance. This model is completely developed at the Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. It is basically the re-badged Baleno hatchback.
