Honda will launch its much anticipated compact MPV, the Mobilio MPV in July this year. Unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, the MPV will compete against the likes of Maruti Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Toyota Innova. The company has already started trial production of the MPV at its Greater Noida manufacturing unit. [Also Read: Honda Mobilio Preview]

Based on the extended version of the Brio platform, the Honda Mobilio measures 4,390mm in length, 1680mm in width and 1610mm in height, and it has a large wheelbase of 2650mm. With an impressive ground clearance of 185mm, it is easier to drive the Mobilio through the Indian roads. The new Mobilio is claimed to be more spacious than its closest competitor Ertiga.

The company has also worked on its styling and comfort, especially for the third row passengers. It will be the third car based on the versatile Brio platform which already underpins the Brio hatchback and the Amaze compact sedan.

The new Honda Mobilio will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel option. While the gasoline version will get the 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that produces 116bhp, the oil burner will be powered by the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine producing 99bhp. If media reports to believe, this model will get the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine; however, the chances are very minimal. Both the engines will be coupled to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox, while the petrol version might also get the 5-speed auto gearbox.

The exact pricing details of the Honda Mobilio MPV are yet to be announced, but we expect it to be priced around Rs. 6-8 lakh.
